Quality Control System for:

Biofuels and Glycerines

The standards that control the quality of these biofuels are very demanding and require a significant number of control routines

Biofuels are produced from organic raw materials of mainly vegetable origin, although in some countries and for certain uses, also of animal origin. We can divide them into two main groups:

  • Biodiesel: FAME stands for Fatty Acid Methyl Esther (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester). In our country it is produced mainly from Soybean Oil. Its main use is the cutting of fossil fuels (diesel derived from petroleum).
  • Bioethanol: It is nothing more than Ethanol (alcohol) produced from starch and or sugar sources. The main raw materials are Corn and Sugar Cane.

Rapid monitoring during the process of those critical parameters that affect the quality of Biofuels is essential and can be controlled and adjusted in the process.

Quality control of the Fluid NIR-Plus system

A rapid and multiparametric measurement is a very important tool for monitoring and possible correction of the production process.

Here are the critical parameters for process control:

  • Biodiesel :
    • Water
    • Methanol
    • Monoglycerides
    • Diglycerides
    • Triglycerides
    • Total Glycerin
    • Free Glycerin
    • Acidity
    • Esterification % Esterification
  • Glycerin :
    • Water
    • Glycerol
    • Ashes
    • MONG
    • Methanol

This modern equipment is part of the new line of integrated products, started with the InLab NIR-Plus. It is a NIR spectrophotometer designed to work on all types of transparent fluids with low water content (less than 2%). The best tool for quality control of biofuels and glycerines.
